German Gymnasium, Kings Cross
When you're ready to reward yourself for working out or want to celebrate a special occasion this is the place. From the name and a quick look at the menu I presumed this place wouldn't be any good for vegetarians but I was so wrong. It's now my favourite hang out in King's Cross mainly because of the decor and atmosphere but the food is pretty good too!
Restaurant: German Gymnasium
1 King's Boulevard, N1C 4BU
Tube: King's Cross
Cuisine: European
Diners: 10 (half veg & half non-veg)
Spend: £££
Don't miss: ravioli and apple strudel (be sure to ask for the separate veg menu)
Healthy option: lentil and barley main
I love the vibe here, for a big table we sat downstairs but if you want something more cosy the tables upstairs are lovely and some have a great view.
Starters
7* Mix leaf and roast potato salad. I got the dressing on the side and really enjoyed this salad with lentils. There's wasn't too much cheese either so it felt reasonably healthy!
7* Chopped kale and roast pumpkin seeds salad - i do love my kale!
6* Lentil & barley while tasty leaves much to be desired and to be honest is just too healthy to be eating out
7* Knodel & Schwammeral - I can't pronounce this and didn't know what it easy but essentially it's long gnocchi with pesto and green beans. While I enjoyed it, it needed a bit more flavour for me.
8* loved the ravioli, it's tasty and filling
Chips - fat and chunky and you can't say no
To finish off we shared an Apple Strudel (8*) which was delicious so definitely save some room.
Verdict: I would definitely go back :)
