MNKY HSE - Latin American, Mayfair

You know your friends know you well when they manage to find a new Latin American restaurant most years for your birthday. This year we checked out Mnky Hse on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised. Its definitely a place to dress up and be ready for it to turn into a party vibe.

Restaurant: MNKY HSE

10 Dover Street, W1S 4LQ

Tube: Green Park

Cuisine: Latin American

Dinners: 4 vegetarians

Spend: £££

Atmosphere: 8* On a Friday night it is buzzing, book your table around 7/8 so that you can talk before the party vibe starts

Don't miss: tomato tostada, the guac, corn salad - all the food has a kick!

7* We tried the spicy guacamole and the regular one. Overall we preferred the normal one although the presentation of the spicy one was beautiful. It's the corn kernels that really give it its kick.

8* This tomato tostada bursts with flavours (it is a bit spicy)

8* Courgette flowers are a new find for me but I really enjoy them. They are heavy so one per person is plenty but the cheesy filling inside will melt in your mouth.

8* This relatively simple quinoa salad complemented the rest of the meal well

8* I often wonder if corn salads are worth ordering as they seem so simple but they are always one of the tastiest dishes. The verdict is they are always worth it!

7* You can't go wrong with some tasty veg on the side. These roasted vegetables were great and although the broccoli weren't dressed with all the other flavours floating around this didn't matter.

8* We were stuffed by the end but when I dine, dessert is a must so we picked the chocolate fondant. Its a classic that you can't go wrong with and the perfect end to a fun night. It's worth making sure that you have a table at the bar for after if you want to continue your night there - it does get busy!
